Autobahn Autos is proud to offer this 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera, 1 of only 395 imported to the US for the model year. The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Coupe for the North American market was a variant of the Carrera 2.7 available between 1974 and 1975. Often referred to as the Carrera 2.7 CIS, it was powered by the same engine in the 2.7-liter 911S producing 165 hp. The Carrera is distinguished from the 911S with Carrera side stripes, deck spoiler, slightly flared rear fenders and wider rear wheels mounted with appropriately fatter tires. This example is finished in Light Yellow with a Tan interior, and was purchased by the seller in early 1982, at approximately 72k miles. During his ownership the car has traveled approximately 22k miles, and has spent time in California and Arizona.
Aside from paintless dent removal, there has been no paint or body work during his ownership. In preparation for this sale we inspected the Carrera with an Elco meter and found there was a previous body repair on the right rear quarter panel. The repair is in a small area, and is documented with photos that are available upon request. The rest of the vehicle had measurements consistent with original paint. The seller was unaware of this repair prior to our discovery. Based on the location and size we do not believe it was the result of an accident.
The car was originally equipped with the iconic Carrera script down the side, but was removed prior to the owner acquiring the car. There is some light shadowing from the script in the paint on the right rear quarter panel, but aside from this area, there is only normal cosmetic wear from use. As is documented in the extensive photos gallery below, the overall condition of this car is excellent for a largely original driver.
Mechanically the vehicle has been mostly maintained by Ben Salerno, first as an employee of German Specialty Cars and later at his own shop (Salerno Motorsports). We have assorted records from the seller’s time with the vehicle, and a summary of those records is available upon request. Notable previous work includes an engine reseal in March 2009 at 91,417 miles. Today the engine has minor leaks, mostly from the case (as is common with magnesium cases from this era). Additional photos of the engine are also available upon request.
In preparation for this sale, the seller authorized approximately $8k in service and repairs: oil service, battery, transmission oil, shift and coupler bushings, steel braided brake hoses, fuel and ignition system repairs, new alternator, and four new tires. A compression test performed on a cold engine documented strong and consistent compression . We do not have a COA for this vehicle, but it does appear the A/C was a factory option. The system is original and intact, but has not been serviced in many years. We suspect the system will need updating to function reliably.
Overall, this is a very original and well cared for example of a 1975 Carrera. For the CA buyers out there, 1975 is smog exempt and offers a great platform to build from. Priced just right at $86,911.
