Autobahn Autos is proud to offer this low mileage 2002 Porsche 911 Targa (996.2), finished in Carrera White with Black interior. Introduced in 2002, the 996.2 Targa features a modular sliding-roof unit with a 16.6-square-foot glass panel and a power sunshade that runs in a track independently of the roof panel. That means the sunshade can be placed almost anywhere overhead as needed to shade the occupants. As Ferry Porsche famously said, "The Targa is neither a coupe nor a convertible”. It gives the owner an open air experience similar to a convertible while providing a more rigid chassis and the security of a coupe. This generation also offers the unique and convenient feature of an opening rear window with gas shocks and soft close for easy operation. It’s the closest you’ll ever come to finding a hatch back 911.
The Targa also benefits from the updates made to the 911 line for the 2002 model year. Most notably, changes to the headlight design, the addition of a glovebox in the interior and the introduction of a 3.6L flat six engine with a new VarioCam Plus valve-timing system that helps lift output to 315 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
Out of the over 175,000 996's produced world wide, only about 5,000 of those were Targa’s making this one of the rarest 996 models produced. And this Targa stands out with its low mileage, documented history and impressive option list. With an MSRP of $91,280, this Porsche has over $15k in factory options: Black Leather Seats, Supple Leather Front and Rear, Comfort Package, Advanced Technic Package, Design Package, 18” Sport Design Wheels, Self Dim Mirrors & Rain Sensor, Heated Front Seats, Rear Window Wiper, Wheel Caps with Colored Crest, Porsche Stability Management, AM/FM Radio with CD Player and Black Mats with Porsche Lettering.
This 911 Targa was purchased by the current owner in April 2010 at 46,273 miles. The clean CARFAX history shows this car spent a majority of its life in California with the exception of a few years in Arizona with the current owner. Service records of the current owner combined with the CARFAX history demonstrate a well maintained car with regular maintenance frequently performed on schedule and by a Porsche dealer.
Salerno Motorsports began servicing the car in October 2013 at 50,617 miles. In the last few months this Porsche received a fresh oil service and new water pump. Other notable service work includes replacement of spark plugs at 54,447 miles. Replacement of clutch, rear main seal and IMS flange at 48,495 miles by Porsche North Scottsdale. This Porsche still has the original single row IMS bearing. Service records document regular oil services based both on time and mileage.
Don’t miss your chance to own this hard to find 911 Targa. Offered today complete with books, tools and mostly complete service records. Priced to sell at $29,996.
